Help as a school

Sightsavers Ireland is currently unable to offer in-person workshops, but we have developed an exciting virtual workshop that can be completed in class or as homework.

The Put Us in the Picture schools website aims to engage children aged seven to 13 on issues of development, disability inclusion and the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as exploring how Irish people own and participate in Ireland’s international development programme through Irish Aid.

Students watch animated movies and play interactive games, and are rewarded with badges to mark their achievements. Upon completion, each student receives a downloadable certificate naming them a ‘Disability Inclusion Champion’.

We also offer a selection of downloadable lesson plans aimed at children in different age groups. You can download copies of these below.

Sightsavers’ annual Junior Painter Awards is open to primary school children across Ireland, encouraging them to consider and promote equality for people with disabilities in developing countries through art.

Prizes are awarded to the schools of the national winners, and students can win memberships to workshops and creative toolboxes from ReCreate Ireland.

Entry packs include full details of rules, how to enter, where to send your paintings, prize details and tips from our judges. We encourage teachers to use our curriculum-linked lesson plan to provide an age-appropriate, deeper understanding of the theme.
